"THE GREAT SMILING SNAKE OF THE UNITED STATES"
"Anti-Americanism is ubiquitous, a direct consequence of America doing her duty, the resentment of followers, not leaders. To be sure, anti-Americanism is an ignoble and irrational emotion. Like anti-Semitism, which in some ways it has replaced, it is impervious to facts or logic."

Your assesment of Saddam Hussein and comparison between Iraq and the usa is totally incorrect. The usa is without question, the most evil regime of all time.Behind the veil of democracy and human rights, they are trying to control the essence of life on this planet. Like a smiling snake, they glide beneath the covers, creating havoc wherever possible. The serpent, then waits for the right moment and strikes. This then allows them, or so they believe, to walk in and take control. This they only do if there is some financial benefit.
Let us look at some of the devious methods used by the usa and its puppets.
1. USSR. With the help of the usa, the USSR was created and destroyed.
2. Bosnia. Here the usa just sat back and watched spinelessly. They ofcourse need the oil and therefor cannot upset the Arabs. Who cares if thousands die, just make sure we have oil.
3 .Africa. This is ofcourse the "joke of all jokes". One can start any where. Uganda / Zambia / Zimbabwe / Mozambique / Zaire and now South Africa. With the wonderful help and concern for human rights, the usa has destroyed Africa. They financed Russia and their allies, who in turn flooded Africa with arms. This then provided the usa with a lucrative arms industry. The armaments / landmines, now available to all, now destablises the country and assures that no stable government / industry / agriculture can be developed. This in turn, once again, allows the evil snake to strike.
People now see the demon for what it is, and wait patiently for its death. So, maybe Sadam Hussein is the "good guy". Think twice before you cast the first stone.
      Dear Mike,
I read with interest your fantastic remarks placing America at the center of nearly every action in this century, causing all evil (USSR, Africa) and at the same failing to stop it from happening (Bosnia). I reckon people bitched about France this way at the zenith of her power in the 18th century, England in the 19th century, and now the United States in the 20th century. Perhaps people will hurl maledictions at China or India in the next century. Or maybe the genesis of your jeremiad comes from the natural resentment of the weak towards the strong.
Trust me, Mike: Nobody in the United States cares much about Africa. Now that the "enemy" in the Soviet Union is no longer in Africa, that continent is nearly invisible to the American consciousness (and it wasn't even that important during the Cold War). It seems you have more of the same "blame everyone but ourselves" attitude of post-colonial Africa which has so poorly served that area in the latter half of the 20th century. Perhaps it would be better to take a chapter out of the book of the many Asian countries which instead of bitching and whining got their act together and pulled themselves out of poverty to achieve a relative affluence.
If the common perception of the United States was that of an "evil snake" or "demon", the children of the world in their millions would hardly be marching off to school carrying with them Walt Disney lunch boxes as they presently do. And I do not think that Saddam Hussein will anytime soon be lauded as the "good guy" by anyone other than knucklehead Arab nationalists and professional apologists for African disorder and underdevelopment such as you appear to be from your e-mail.
Your comments have the eclectic appearance of the "true believer" innocent of long study or deep thinking. I humbly recommend more nuance and sophistication in your prose and less reptile metaphors.
      Sincerely,
      Richard Geib
