New Year’s Resolutions 2026

“The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written.”
Melody Beattie

Tomorrow is the first blank page of a 365-page book. Write a good one.”
Brad Paisley

Rich Geib’s 2026 New Year’s Resolutions

What should I do? Where to go? How to live?

  • The big THREE:
    • My health (physical, mental).
    • My presence with my daughters.
    • A clean, intact exit from my job.
  • The narrow, non-negotiable TWO:
    • Exercise, food, sleep, and blood tests;
    • Prioritize and nurture my FRIENDSHIPS. —
      • Everything else is strictly secondary at best and can be ruthlessly discarded at worst.
  • HCP all set up.
    • After years or research and thinking it over, have this modified and broken in gun good-to-go in 2026.
      • Years in the making, an evolutionary end point.
      • Your “forever gun.
  • Continue to monitor older daughter’s UCLA tuition and other expenses and cover them.
    • I think it is going to workout…
      • …WHAT A RELIEF!
        • No student loan debt: a gift to daughter upon graduation.
    • Keep putting money into younger daughter’s 529 account.
  • Continue to traverse this uncomfortable “liminal” stage of life:
    • One era of life is ending; the next has not yet started. I am smack in the middle.
    • This is an awkward and off-putting period — and it is finite. It is a temporary time, not a life sentence. Remember this, Richard.
    • You are not in jail. You are just finishing a very long contract.
      • Stabilize, protect, and prepare.
  • Complete your NASM-CPT course of study and pass the accrediting exam.
    • Be close to finishing your subsequent CES certification, building on CPT one.
      • “Bridge career” after retirement.
